What is a restorative yoga class?

By definition, restorative yoga is a restful practice that holds yoga poses (asanas) for a longer duration using props like yoga blocks, blankets, and bolsters. It is a practice of deep relaxation that emphasizes the meditative aspect of yoga—the union of body and mind. Gentle Reiki touch will be offered throughout the class.

Class minimum of 6 with a maximum of 12

$25 per person

Pre-registration Required up to one week in advance.

Meet the Instructor

Kathie holds a 500 hr. RYT Certification. She has studied with The Hard & The Soft Yoga Institute, which is one of the most prestigious and comprehensive yoga teacher training schools in the United States. She has studied directly under Beryl Bender Birch, an internationally renowned yoga teacher and author. Components of the 500 Hr. Training Kathie has received include, Sutra Study, Alignment, Yoga Nidra, Anatomy & amp; Yoga, Pranayama and Meditation. She has also studied with Mindful Yoga, specializing in trauma informed yoga and holds a Level II Reiki Certification. Kathie’s style of teaching is based on the ashtanga sequences and has been adapted for every “body”. You will hear her say quite often “Honor the body you are working with today”.

Event Description:

This is a rejuvenating experience and event! Combining Myofascial Release using tension balls with a gentle yoga flow. 

Benefits of this workshop:

  • Release Deep-seated muscular tension

  • Improve mobility

  • Reconnect with your body with breath and mindful movement. 

Schedule: 

Brief description of fascia and the purpose of MFR.

Guided MFR to feet, shins, glutes, and back with a gentle stretch after each targeted area that compliments the released areas.

Her current passion is blending yoga, myofascial release and therapeutic insights. Her goal is to help her clients reduce pain and improve mobility through mind and body practices. This is a rejuvenating experience and event! Combining Myofascial Release using tension balls with a gentle yoga flow. 

Benefits of this workshop:

  • Release Deep-seated muscular tension

  • Improve mobility

  • Reconnect with your body with breath and mindful movement. 

Schedule: 

Brief description of fascia and the purpose of MFR.

Guided MFR to feet, shins, glutes, and back with a gentle stretch after each targeted area that compliments the released areas.

Sarah Shippee created Rising Lotus LLC in 2020 shortly after completing her 200HR Yoga Teacher training (YTT).  She has 13 years experience as a Licensed Physical Therapist Assistant and specializes in Myofascial Release. Her current passion is blending yoga, myofascial release and therapeutic insights. Her goal is to help her clients reduce pain and improve mobility through mind and body practices. Her mind body approach honors the nervous system as well as the muscles and joints. Her mission is to help individuals and communities move better, feel better and live with greater ease-on and off the mat.
